Brand new Spring session, "Me Without You", begins April 5th and ends June 28th. All are welcome! One-hour challenging and fun classes for anyone looking to increase (or perhaps maintain) their level of health and fitness in a Christ centered environment.

Please join us as we laugh, learn, support, and encourage one another as Christian mothers. We meet from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on the third Tuesday of every month. The meetings and child care are free. Food is provided. We have different speakers each month from September to May. We meet at New Life Christian Church, located at 401 W. Edgewood in Morton. Our MOPS group is a smaller one, averaging 12-18 awesome moms of various denominations. Come join us!! New for 2012... We are adding MOMSnext to our group! MOPS (Mothers Of Preschoolers) is a group of moms that meets regularly to celebrate the joys of motherhood and to encourage each other through the challenges of this special season of life. MOMSnext was added to include topics/conversation for those moms who have school-age children. Our group is open to all mothers with children from birth through elementary school. We also offer childcare via our Moppets Group. MOPPETS is safe, loving, and engaging childcare for your child as you relax and enjoy your time at MOPS/MOMSnext. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.

American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Study 3 (Tue. May 21, 2013 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

What if you could make it so just one family never had to hear the words “you have cancer”? The American Cancer Society is recruiting men and women for a landmark research study – Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3) – to better understand ways to prevent cancer. Individuals may participate if they are between the ages of 30 and 65 years old, have never been diagnosed with cancer, and are willing to make a long-term commitment to the study (which involves completing follow-up surveys periodically over the next 20-30 years).

GEMS (God Embracing Moms who are Single) (Tue. May 21, 2013 5:00 pm)

GEMS will be kicking off their new year at Eastview Christian Church in Normal, IL. GEMS, God Embracing Moms who are Single, allows single mothers of all ages the opportunity to participate in a free meal, engage in community with other single mothers, and enjoy an inspiring Biblical message while their children are receiving a message of God in childcare. As we enter a new year of fun and fellowship, we want to reach out to all "GEMS" in the community, offering an opportunity to be involved in a contagious environment which will encourage them to be a strong, positive leader in their home, church, work, and everyday life. Men's Bible Study Fellowship (Tue. May 21, 2013 6:45 pm - 8:35 pm)

The Men's Bible Study Fellowship will be meeting at Lakeside Christian Church (just off Toronto Rd) on Tuesday evenings beginning Feb 5th. We will be studying Philippians, Ruth, and Colossians. Please come any night, and we will provide an introduction and an opportunity to register men and their school age children (1st - 6th grade currently).

Sangamon Valley Community Orchestra Presents Forces of Destiny: Verdi & Tchaikovsky! (Wed. May 22, 2013 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm)

The Sangamon Valley Community Orchestra invites you to Forces of Destiny: Verdi & Tchaikovsky! The Sangamon Valley Community Orchestra closes the 2012-2013 season with its new Music Director and Conductor, Aaron Kaplan on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Hoogland Center for the Arts, LRS Theater. The concert will feature Verdi’s Overture to “La Forza del Destino,” Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme Op. 33 featuring Amy Flores on cello, and Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake Suite Op 20a."

 

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children under age 10. Tickets can be purchased through the Hoogland Center for the Arts box office by phone at 217.523.2787, or in person at 420 S Sixth St, Springfield, IL. The next meeting of the Dementia Education and Support group will be at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka. We will be meeting in our front living room. This month we will be discussing current research in the area of dementia. The meeting is open to the public.

Ride for HOPE (Sat. May 25, 2013 10:30 am - 7:30 pm)

The Ride for HOPE is a motorcycle ride that is being organized by The HOPE Chest of Pekin, a non profit thrift store located on the southside of Pekin. This ride is to raise money for a food pantry that will be located in our building at 1106 Derby St. Pekin, IL. It will be open weekly to Central IL residents.

 

The Ride for HOPE starts at the Avanti's Dome in Pekin. Sign in is at 10:30a.m.; all bikes out by 12:00 p.m. There will be a stop in Fairview, IL at the American Legion. Then, the ride will finish at Goodfella's in Pekin at 4:00 p.m. Following the ride, there will be a spaghetti supper from 4:00-7:00 p.m., and we will have lots of great raffle baskets!!!
