Memorial Day Sunday Service (Sun. May 26, 2013 10:00 am)

Everyone is invited to attend a special service at Glad Tidings Assembly of God to give recognition and honor to those who are serving or have served in the military. Military participants are encouraged to come wearing their prospective uniforms, if possible. A free picnic lunch at the church will also follow the service. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Oklahoma Tornado Relief (Sun. May 26, 2013 12:00 pm)

A team of 4 are going to Oklahoma this weekend to assist with clean-up, and any other way they can. They are in need of supplies, but more importantly donations so they can purchase the supplies. Please feel free to donate any of the following items: bottled water, Gatorade, baby wipes, baby formula, diapers, individually wrapped snacks, hand sanitizer, hand towels, work gloves, sunscreen, and any ready-made food. Athens Christian Church is accepting the donations in their office. Most importantly prayers are needed for the team and also for the victims during this terrible time.

GriefShare Support Group at Calvary Temple (Sun. May 26, 2013 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Calvary Temple will be facilitating a support group on Sunday afternoons. The group runs from April 21st to June 23rd, 2013

Midwest Food Bank: Helping Oklahoma Tornado Victims (Tue. May 28, 2013 8:00 am)

Midwest Food Bank has responded to a request from The Salvation Army and is sending family food boxes to victims of the tornado in Oklahoma.

 

A family food box contains food and personal care products for a family of four for four or five days.  The first semi load of boxes left from the food bank’s facility in Peoria Wednesday morning. A second load left from Bloomington Wednesday afternoon with additional loads expected to leave next week.

 

Each semi trailer holds 750 boxes. The food bank is also sending pallets of bottled water and drink. Each box is valued at $23 with a semi load costing $17,250.

 

Individuals wishing to assist in the preparation of the boxes or to donate to Midwest Food Bank efforts may do so by calling or going online.

Seasoned to Serve (Wed. May 29, 2013 9:00 am - 11:00 am)

The Jacksonville Christian Women's Connection (CWC*) invites all area women to our Brunch and Program, "Seasoned to Serve," at Hamilton's in Jacksonville.

Northminster Presbyterian Church Annual Rummage Sale (Thu. May 30, 2013 8:00 am - 7:00 pm)
