Daily Prayer Focuses

Day 30

You have carried the ministry of WCIC on your prayers for these 30 days. Thank you!

Today we want to consecrate ourselves before the Lord, in final preparation for Sharathon. The need to be fully funded for the entire year is 2,300 TEAM360 pledges. This is a huge, aggressive, stretch goal. But it's based on the real need to cover operations. Without prayer covering, we would feel intimidated and unprepared. Through your partnership in prayer, we feel ready and confident in the Lord.

Let's pray we'll have the spirit of Caleb & Joshua, who were unintimidated by the giants in the Promised Land. May WCIC be a showcase for God's glory. And may we together sow seeds of community-wide spiritual awakening everywhere our influence would reach.

"Lord, we bow before you. Purify us. Use us. We are yours."

Joshua 3:5 (AMP)
And Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves [that is, separate yourselves for a special holy purpose], for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.

Can't wait to see the wonders the Lord has in store this week!

Day 29

Tomorrow will be the final day of preparations for Sharathon, which starts Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. Today, our priority is worship and rest.

Please pray our team and volunteers will experience soul-renewing and physically refreshing Sabbath today.

Deep rest. Divinely imparted strength-received in quietness before God.

Hebrews 4:9-11a  (NLT)
So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God's rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world.  So let us do our best to enter that rest.

May the Lord also give you replenishing rest today.

Day 28

Those with the gift of giving (see Romans 12:8) have a special grace to give. There is a special calling and blessing to steward resources and support Kingdom advance. God entrusts these individuals with uncommon capacity to release financial provision for His purposes.

While every gift at every level is vital to Sharathon and is deeply appreciated, those with the gift of giving have a unique and vital role in helping to set the pace. Over the years, we've seen what can happen when a gift of $10,000 or even $25,000 is given.  !!!

Please pray for key individuals to step forward in faith and give in a bold, substantial way, as the Lord directs. 10 families giving at the $2,500 to $25,000 level could energize Sharathon beyond anything we've ever seen in previous fundraisers. Needs can be met and joy will overflow.

2 Corinthians 9:12-13 (NLT 1996)
So two good things will happen-the need of Christians in Jerusalem will be met and they will joyfully express their thanksgiving to God. You will be glorifying God through your generous gifts. For your generosity to them will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.

May you experience overflowing joy as you walk in the fullness of your gifts and calling today.

Day 27

The forecast of spring temperatures next week will bring much needed relief from where we've been, but changing seasons can also be challenging on the immune system.

Sharathon will mean high output and long hours for the team. Will you please pray for the team to remain strong and healthy through this season?

3 John 1:2 (NLT)
Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.

May you be kept strong in body and spirit through this season as well.

Day 26

Today, we'd appreciate your prayers for all the last-minute preparations for Sharathon.

There are a few more slots we still need to fill in the mornings for phone volunteers. The team is getting food and facilities ready for a house full of company next week. We're putting final audio and video production together. Staff is planning, praying, and preparing for the big party, set to start at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday!

Please pray preparations will come together smoothly and we'll maintain a "Mary heart," even with all the "Martha tasks."

Luke 10:39-40 (NLT)
Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord's feet, listening to what He taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, "Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me."

May your day become a beautiful blend of work and worship.

Day 25

Let's rejoice!

Remember a couple of days ago when we prayed together for divine surprises? That morning, one of our team was on the phone with a contractor who was doing some work at the WCIC studios. At the end of the call he said, "My wife and I want to issue a challenge for Sharathon. We'll dedicate-a-day of broadcasting if the challenge is met." The next caller also wanted to dedicate-a-day. And the very next call... you guessed it. Another $1,200 pledge to dedicate-a-day. Wow.

Three dedicate-a-day phone calls in a row, without any reason? What a surprise! It sure looked like there were divine fingerprints on the timing of how things happened... Thank you for praying for divine surprises as we gear up for Sharathon.

Again, let's rejoice!
Philippians 4:4 (NKJV)
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

May your day be filled with an unquenchable joy!

Day 24

Sharathon begins one week from today. The overall goal is for 2,300 friends and families to join TEAM360. This is based on what it will take for WCIC to be fully-funded for the entire year.

Early momentum can help put the goal within reach. Many are making pledges before Sharathon officially begins on-air. We've set an aggressive goal... to have 600 of those 2,300 TEAM360 pledges already in the books when Sharathon opens. Last year opened with a little more than 400.

Will you please pray for an amazing running start for Sharathon during this final week of preparing?

Psalm 108:13a (NLT)
"With God's help we will do mighty things..."

May you experience God's help today and be amazed.

Day 23

Let's pray today for divine surprises during Sharathon.

2 Corinthians 2:9b (NLT)
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him."

May your day today be filled with beauty and divinely ordered serendipity.

Day 22

I'll never forget. It was one of the craziest hours in WCIC Sharathon history.

Remember the story of the disciples fishing all night but catching nothing? Hour after hour. Professionals, but no fish. The next morning, Jesus told them to use the very same fishing gear, in the same lake, in the same conditions, but with one change. He said to move the net to the other side of the boat. The resulting catch was spectacular.

Things during Sharathon had been slow that afternoon. Randall and his wife called and issued a challenge. They invited listeners to "cast their net on the other side of the boat," by praying, and then doing whatever the Lord would instruct.

Everything suddenly changed. Phones were as busy as we could handle for more than an hour. It was CRAZY. A holy experience. All because this couple followed through in simple obedience to what they felt the Lord directing. And others did the same.

Let's pray today for ears to hear and hearts to obey. Let's cast where He instructs.

John 21:6, 10, 11(NLT)
Then he said, "Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you'll get some!" So they did, and they couldn't haul in the net because there were so many fish in it. "Bring some of the fish you've just caught,"
Jesus said. So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore. There were 153 large fish, and yet the net hadn't torn.

The next morning, I looked at the number of calls we received in response to Randall's challenge. It was 153.

Day 21

Six days ago, we prayed for faith to rise in our hearts across the WCIC community. What new "family stories" of faith will grow from the soil of this year's Sharathon?

One year, a husband and wife were praying independently about what to give during Sharathon. They both sensed the Lord's whisper to do something far beyond anything they had ever given. When they compared notes, there was great confidence to make the pledge in faith because they both felt direction in their spirits to give the exact same dollar amount: Five thousand dollars. They bought a house several months later and got an unusually favorable price. Coincidence?

Let's pray today that across the WCIC community, we'll hear the instruction of the Lord and have the courage to step out in faith and do it.

John 2:3-5 (NKJV)
And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine." Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it."

Let's grow more family faith stories. And whatever He says to do, let's do it.

Day 20

March weather in Illinois can deliver the break from winter's fury we've been longing for. And it can be as snowy as January, with sub-zero temps.

One March, there was an ice storm during Sharathon that took us off the air, right during the heart of a morning drive-time. This was many years ago, before we had a generator. Two of the ten phone lines still worked. Counting all staff and volunteers, 23 people were in the radio station. With no lights and no ventilation, we did our best with candles and flashlights. Thankfully, power was restored after about an hour. The amazing part? The two functioning phones stayed busy even though we were off the air. The Sharathon total grew by $13,000 that hour!

As we gear up for March 11, please pray for favorable weather and for safe travels for all volunteers and staff.

Psalm 148:7-8 (GNT)
Praise the Lord from the earth, sea monsters and all ocean depths; lightning and hail, snow and clouds, strong winds that obey his command.

May even the elements align to affirm all God has purposed for Sharathon.

Day 19

Yesterday, we focused on doing battle together in the unseen realm, through prayer. Let's continue in that theme today as we prepare for Sharathon, beginning March 11th.

Ministry on our planet is always a mix of our part and God's part. My pastor often says, "Without God, we cannot. Without us, He will not." This verse captures a beautiful picture of that divine/human partnership:

Psalm 44:3 (NKJV)
For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, Because You favored them.

The favor of the Lord is our victory. May we drink deeply of His favor today.

Day 18

The mission of WCIC is helping people connect with God. Anytime efforts are undertaken to support advance for the Kingdom of God, there will be enemy resistance. Sharathon is a pivotal time for this ministry. What is accomplished in these few days will impact the ministry trajectory for the entire year.

While our eyes are on Jesus, we're also alert to the efforts of our adversary to disrupt, distract, and destroy. We've seen a pattern over many years... the resistance generally seems to "ramp up" around Sharathon season.

Let's battle together in the unseen realm today, through prayer.

Isaiah 59:19b (NKJV)
When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.

The battle is the Lord's!

Day 17

Less than two years ago, the transmitter for our repeater station in Princeton was moved about 25 miles to the north. Power was increased from 150 watts to 8,500 watts. This extended the signal coverage of WCIC to include the communities of Sterling, Rock Falls, Dixon, and even as far as Clinton, Iowa.

Please join our team in asking the Lord for favor as we build relationships and do our best to serve in this part of our state. We're also praying that this will be the year the Sharathon response from this area fully covers the expenses associated with expansion in Northwestern Illinois.

2 Thessalonians 3:1 (NLT)
Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us. Pray that the Lord's message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you.

The Apostle Paul believed prayer would change outcomes. He believed there was a link between people covering his ministry efforts with prayer, and the way the message would be received. Thank you for your role today--through prayer--in the ministry effectiveness of WCIC!

Day 16

Today, we'd like to pray for our friends who are a part of the WCIC community, listening at 90.5 and 90.7 in Springfield, Jacksonville, and surrounding areas. WCIC began serving these areas around this time last year. Already, Springfield is one of the leading communities in our service area in terms of social media response, listener phone calls, and financial support. Of the 167 people who signed up for 30 Days of Prayer, we're thrilled that a good number are from this new service area as well.

Let's pray for God's message of Faith, Hope, & Family to encourage people across the Springfield-Jacksonville region. What an opportunity for the gospel to penetrate even into the hearts of government leadership in our capital city, through radio.

1 Corinthians 16:8-9 (NASB)
8 But I will remain in Ephesus until Pentecost; 9 for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.

May the Lord also lead you today--through wide doors for effective service.

Day 15

Sharathon is a fundraiser. But at its root, it's about faith.

God could provide any way He wants. But by design, provision for the advance of His Kingdom flows through the human heart. It's a lofty thought... He invites us to become partners with Him in the unfolding of His plans and purposes through our willing sacrifice. Giving can demonstrate our faith that God is real.

Let's pray for rising faith across the WCIC community today and throughout Sharathon, as we echo the request of the apostles.

Luke 17:5 (NLT)
The apostles said to the Lord, "Show us how to increase our faith."

May you find faith on the rise in your heart today.

Day 8

Thank you so much for praying together this past week!

Throughout this week, we'd appreciate your prayers each day for individuals on the WCIC team and their families. Including full-time, part-time, and network staff members, we'll present 3 or 4 names each day, so everyone will be covered in prayer individually this week.

Let's join together today in lifting:
Jeremy Tracey-- Morning Co-host & Digital Program Director
Jill Tracey-- Morning Co-host & Community Service Director
Becky Whitler-- Network Accounting

Please pray for wisdom, creativity, stamina, and grace as they serve in their vital roles on the team.

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NLT)
So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Day 7

This week, a mailing was sent to nearly 8,000 friends and families who are a part of the WCIC community. The letter explains the heartbeat of WCIC and presents the opportunity for financial partnership as we approach Sharathon. Please pray for this mailing to be an encouragement, and to deepen the sense of "shared mission" among those who sacrifice to make WCIC possible.

2 Corinthians 9:5 (NLT)
So I thought I should send these brothers ahead of me to make sure the gift you promised is ready. But I want it to be a willing gift, not one given under pressure.

May each of us respond to the opportunity not with a sense of pressure or obligation, but with willing hearts, as the Lord leads.

Day 6

Happy Valentine's Day!

As we think of roses, chocolate, and celebrate this special day, we're reminded that love is the glue that holds our lives together. We're motivated by it. We sacrifice for the well-being of others because of love. At home, and beyond.

In the fast pace of "getting it all done," sometimes it's easy to come across as insensitive and crack the door open for offense. Even with people we love dearly. And with the best of intentions. Subtle irritations can accrue and grow with compound interest.

During this busy season of Sharathon preparation, please invite the Lord to pour His love and grace into the WCIC environment as you pray through this passage:

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NLT)
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud
5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Day 5

This is a busy season for the WCIC staff. It's an ongoing challenge finding balance between being willing to do "whatever it takes," and working with such sustained intensity that we can find ourselves worn down. This may be exactly what you're wrestling through--balancing work, family, church, friendships-- all good, all part of God's plan, yet at times overwhelming.

Let's pray through this verse of scripture for the team and for one another across the WCIC community.

Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

May we bring the best of human effort to our calling and find it transformed, infused with God's strength. May we learn to live in that place of experiencing God's "mighty power" at work within us, resourcing our lives for all He is calling us to be and do.

Day 4

Today our prayer request is for the WCIC team to be inspired with creative ideas and bring excellence and innovation to our craft.

Exodus 35:31-33 (NLT)
31 The Lord has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts.
32 He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze.
33 He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft.

If the Lord filled a craftsman of old with His Spirit in a way which was expressed through his workmanship, may He fill us today, imparting wisdom, ability and expertise needed to represent Him with excellence through technology.

Day 3

May God's Glory be showcased powerfully throughout everything related to Sharathon.

Habakkuk 2:14
New Living Translation (NLT)
14 For as the waters fill the sea, the earth will be filled with an awareness of the glory of the Lord.

The revelation of God's Glory is where things are heading. May WCIC contribute toward the fulfillment of this prophetic reality in some eternally significant way. Let awareness of the Lord's glory rise across our region as a result of these prayers and these efforts.

Day 2

Today, we'd like to pray for every volunteer who will help in any way with Sharathon. It's an enormous undertaking involving more than 400 volunteer hours, just to handle phone calls during Sharathon week. What a huge heart investment!

1 Corinthians 9:17 (NIV)
17 If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.

It's noteworthy that Paul said if he volunteered to serve, he would have a reward. Our prayer is that the experience will be rewarding for each one who gives of their time to help. May they be filled with the joy of community and experience fulfillment in serving.

Day 1

As we gear up for our 30th anniversary of ministry this year, we'd like to begin our prayer focus on this first day by asking you to join in praying through a few verses of scripture from the Psalms. The music of Sharathon will sing His praise. The stories we'll share will tell of His wonderful deeds. Please apply any specific thoughts as the Lord may direct from this passage as you lift the ministry of the station before Him today in prayer.

Psalm 105 (NLT)
1 Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.
2 Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
3 Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the Lord.
4 Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him.
