God Belongs in My City started in New York City in 2009 when over 1,500 youth walked from North and South of Manhattan, meeting at Times Square and Grand Central Station to make their voices heard. That single event has transformed into an international movement that hosts hundreds of events each year.

God Belongs in My City's mission is to help Christians make a declaration of faith. The organization believes as Christ came and changed the world, Christians ought to impact their cities now. The goal is to help Christians fearlessly rise up as one, not collapse under the waves of this world, and help them carry forth the Gospel of Salvation.

Worldwide Vigils Mark Two-Year Anniversary of Saeed Abedini's Imprisonment

More than 700 days ago, American Pastor Saeed Abedini boarded a flight to Iran and never came back. Christmas has come and gone twice, and he's missed his children's birthdays and other family celebrations. After many false hopes that freedom could come, the Boise, Idaho, resident remains imprisoned by the Iran government on charges related to his Christian faith. Now, two years to the day of Abedini's incarceration, concerned citizens will gather in East Peoria and at similar vigils around the world to pray for his safe release and call upon their governments to act on his behalf. The U.S. citizen and Boise, Idaho, minister is serving out a "virtual death sentence" of eight years in one of Iran's most notorious prisons. Charged with "undermining the national security of Iran" because of his Christian faith, Pastor Saeed has faced repeated beatings, malnourishment, lack of proper medical treatment, and death threats from other prisoners and Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

Held on the two-year anniversary of Pastor Saeed's imprisonment, East Peoria's vigil, at the RiverFront Freedom Memorial, (the area around the flags) in Riverfront Park, behind the East Peoria Walmart, is part of a global effort to tell the world: #Its'sTime to #SaveSaeed. Protesters will gather in East Peoria to pray and to bring attention to Saeed Abedini's situation and the plight of persecuted Christians around the world.
