Holiday Help was developed by Sherry Williams from Hopeful Transitions, a national grief consulting and resource organization. She will be presenting information that will normalize the grief process and provide practical suggestions for coping. We realize that for many people this could be the first holiday season without a close family member or loved one and their rituals and traditions may seem empty. This program will include creative ways to create memorials, rituals, and traditions that incorporate the memory of the person who has died. This program is free and open to the public with no reservations required so please join us and bring along your family members and friends.

With a variety of offerings to choose from, the Fair provides something for everyone on a giving list. For each cash or check donation, shoppers receive a holiday card with a description of the organization and the “gift”.
“We encourage people to purchase gifts in the name of a loved one, such as school uniforms to South Side Mission or a handbag woven by women at a mission in Africa”, said Pam Garner from the Northminster Mission Ministry. “It’s also a great time to learn about these missions and what they do for others.”
Over $10,000 was raised last year, benefitting five local and global mission projects. This year, at least 15 Missions have signed up to date:
Alzheimer’s Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Big Hearts Outdoors, Blue Ridge Community Farm, Common Place Compassion, International Crittenton Center, Friendship House, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Juvenile Justice Ministries, Neighborhood House, Peoria Rescue Ministries, South Side Mission, Westminster Peninsula Ministry, Yucatan Peninsula Ministry
