The event includes: nativity, live animals, ornament craft, pictures, cookie decorating, popcorn, hot chocolate, hot cider, hay rack rides, and a winter clothing collection.

 

We will be collecting donations of winter clothing/gear for the James Project at this event. Any size for children up to 18 years old - new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, etc. There will be a collection point at Lakeview Lodge.

 

Hosted by LSCA and Refuge Ranch. The event is open house style - come and go as you wish throughout the evening.

This year's Christmas Cantata at the Le Roy Christian Church "Come Let Us Adore" returns us to the scene of a humble manager where the great Light of the world was born.

 

Filled with songs to draw the heart closer to the true hope and joy of the season, this musical is a blend of new seasonal anthems and traditional carols that will awaken different perspectives of the Christmas story.

 

Join us as we lift up choruses of worship and relive the miraculous story of Christ's birth! If you are unable to join us for the main performance, the dress rehearsal will take place on Saturday, December 17th at 6:00 p.m. and is open to the public!

Each year hundreds of bald eagles overwinter in the Illinois River Valley. We dedicate this day to the appreciation of these incredible birds of prey as the Peoria Audubon Society and Forest Park Nature Center offer a presentation and tours to view bald eagles along the river!

 

The event is free, but donations are requested.

Join the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum for Community Day honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.

 

During Community Day the Museum allows not-for-profit organizations free admission. Not-for-profit groups will be highlighted from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm in the Museum Plaza to spread the word about their organization’s mission. To obtain FREE admission, not-for-profit groups must pre-register with Group Sales, by calling 217-558-8939 or email the address above.

 

Actor Reggie Guyton presents Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech,” in the plaza at 10:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.

 

The 4-H Dancers, from the University of Illinois Extension 4-H Program, directed by Erica T. Austin, will perform in the Museum Plaza at 1:00 p.m. Along with these performances, there will be a display in remembrance of Dr. King in the Plaza.

 

A special museum admission discount will be given to anyone who buys a new board game to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization of Springfield Illinois. Donate a new board game and receive a $10 discount admission to the museum for a family of four. Discount is available only on Sundays in January and Martin Luther King Day.
