The ALPLM continues its look back at World War I with this presentation of the classic Stanley Kubrick film starring Kirk Douglas. It tells the story (based on a real incident) of French soldiers who refused to take part in what was obviously a pointless suicide mission and were court-martialed by officers more interested in their reputations than in justice.

ALPLM historian Mark DePue will introduce the movie.

During his career as a former federal and state prosecutor and as a public defender, Kirk Schoenbein tried over 80 felony trials, including two death penalty cases. Kirk will be speaking in his capacity as a former prosecutor as he examines the prosecution of Jesus.

How did Christ's prosecutors build their case? What charges did they consider, reject, and ultimately pursue? What defenses could have been made on Christ's behalf? Did Christ's prosecution conform to Jewish and Roman law? These are just some of the questions that will be considered, in addition to what Christ's death means for each one of us.

Hope to see you there!
