The Chillicothe Rugby Football Club will host its 5th annual fundraiser to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).  This event raises thousands of dollars annually to support research into finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

Money is raised through voluntary donations at the gate, food and t-shirt sales, a 50/50 drawing, a silent auction all day, and a live auction between matches. For 2015 there will be a record eight teams playing four league matches and a JV scrimmage. Participating teams include girls teams from Chillicothe and the Fox Valley area as well as boys teams from Chillicothe, the Peoria area, Springfield, and Bloomington.

The Chillicothe Rugby Football Club (CRFC) was founded in 2008 and began the annual Rugby for Research fundraiser to support JDRF in 2011 in response to the tragic news that the sister of one of the Chillicothe Barbarian players had died while in a diabetic coma.  Since then it has become an annual event in which the club furthers its mission of educating youth in the sport of rugby, encouraging good sportsmanship, and promoting the overall betterment of the social, moral, and physical development of the young men and women in our community.

The Christian Motorcyclists Association will host its annual Run for the Son. The New Life Riders, one of the many CMA chapters chartered in the United States, will be participating in this Run. This will be a ride where riders seek sponsors to help raise money for CMA to spread the light of Jesus to every nation.

Since Run for the Son began, CMA has raised over 45 million dollars to help present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to millions of people around the world. Every penny promptly goes to work. Each year, 20% goes for Bibles to closed and restricted countries, 20% goes for motorcycles to native pastors around the world, 20% percent goes to help the JESUS film spread the Word of God, and 40% is used by CMA to help reach motorcyclists here at home in the United States and internationally.

This year our goal is $5,000,000. Anyone interested in this event can meet us at McDonalds in Bartonville, IL, on route 24, at 7:45 a.m. We will ride approximately 75 miles and end up at the Pizza Ranch in Morton for a fundraiser.

Pizza Ranch is donating 10% of all sales from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to Run for the Son. For further information or if you would like to sponsor someone for the Run, please call Jim at the phone number above.
