Sam's Club of Peoria and Pajama Program are combining efforts for the third consecutive year to collect new pajamas and new books for children.

Created in 2001, Pajama Program is a nonprofit organization with 60 chapters in 33 states. This program collects and distributes new pajamas and new books to local children who would otherwise not have these items. Since its beginning the organization has donated over 2 million new pajamas and books to children in need.

There is an urgent need to collect new pajamas for these children before "Danger Season," starts in October when temperatures begin to dip to the freezing point. These youngsters in need, particularly those living in temporary arrangements or waiting to be adopted, will benefit directly from the contributions as frigid temperature begin to creep in.

Sam's Club hopes to collect 100 new pajamas and 100 new books for children in need. A colorful, pajama-decorated collection bin will be located near the front of the club for the duration of the drive. Donors are asked to drop off a pair of pajamas or a new book in the bin. Pajama Program will deliver the gifts to local children in need at the end of the campaign.

We are focused on outreach to our community and we see a great opportunity in helping our community through our children’s ministries. This past year we have been able to provide many special events such as trunk-or-treat and our Easter egg hunt, an exciting vacation Bible school program, provide school supplies and backpacks to those in need, and send youth to summer camps. We are thankful that God has blessed us in being able to do these things and we are excited to do more in the upcoming year! This craft sale is an opportunity for us to work together as a church family to raise funds to help our community even more and we appreciate all those who would like to help us make a positive effect on this community as well.
