The Trinity High School Youth Group will host its annual Easter Breakfast at Trinity Lutheran School. The menu includes sausage egg casserole, ham egg casserole, cheese egg casserole, sausage, pancakes, fruit, baked goods and drinks (milk, coffee, orange juice, water). A freewill offering will be taken and net proceeds will be used to send the Youth Group to the national Youth Gathering.

The 8th grade class at Springfield Christian School is collecting soda tabs as a holocaust project. We want to get a better visual on just a SMALL number of the Jewish lives that were lost. Our class chose a country (Czechoslovakia) which had 277,000 Jewish deaths in it during the times of the Holocaust. So our goal is to collect 277,000 soda/ soup can tabs anytime from now until the end of April. When we are done with these tabs we will donate them to the Ronald McDonald House in Springfield, Illinois. The Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to live (free of charge) if they have children in the hospital for an extended period of time.

Join the YWCA of the Sauk Valley for the 33rd annual Women of Achievement Luncheon. Share a table with friends and colleagues, to honor the accomplishments of outstanding area women. In addition to the awards and luncheon, there will be drawings featuring signature gift baskets.

 

The YWCA Women of Achievement Luncheon is one of the YWCA's most important fundraisers. The proceeds from this event support the YWCA's programs that help transform the lives of people across the Sauk Valley.

The Peoria Lawn Mower Clinic is a community volunteer event where we provide important maintenance for your lawn mower. For a small fee ($35) we clean the deck, sharpen the blade, replace the spark plug and filter and then clean off the mower. Attendees of the project drop off their mowers in the morning and then come back to pick them up in the afternoon.

You are invited to attend a family-fun wheelchair basketball game, played between the University of Illinois men’s and women’s wheelchair basketball teams and the Bloomington-Normal Deaf Club representing LIFE Center for Independent Living (LIFE CIL).

 

In addition to the game, there will be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, door prize and performances by Kids on the Block Puppet Troupe. We plan to see Corny from Normal CornBelters Baseball and Reggie Redbird too! Come join the fun and bring your family and friends!

 

Admission is $5.00, children 5 and under are free. Tickets are on sale now at LIFE CIL or can be purchased at the door. Doors open and activities begin at 10:00 a.m. The game begins at 11:00 a.m.

 

This event is LIFE CIL’s only annual fund raising event, and proceeds also provide two scholarships for youth with disabilities to attend wheelchair sports camp at the University of Illinois. We are inviting you support this community event that also raises awareness for people with disabilities.

 

LIFE CIL is a not-for-profit organization that serves persons of all ages and all kinds of disabilities in McLean, DeWitt, Ford, and Livingston Counties. We provide services that help about 2,500 persons with disabilities each year to achieve and maintain independent lifestyles in their own homes, and we also advocate for their civil rights. The majority of our Board and staff members are themselves persons with disabilities.

Family Science Day is a public outreach event designed to education and inspire K-8 students in the field of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). This family-friendly event hosts the Central Illinois Robotics Club's annual Bot Brawl tournament and encourages scientific discovery through hands-on activities, challenges, and demonstrations while providing the opportunity to learn about scientific careers from actual research scientists and science educators.

Central Illinois' Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is having its annual Home Team Banquet. This year, they are pleased to welcome former St. Louis Cardinals' Pitcher Andy Benes.

 

The banquet will be an inspirational evening that is targeted toward adults and will include a financial appeal. The entire cost of the banquet is underwritten by sponsors. The goal of the banquet is to present participants with the opportunity to become FCA Home Team members, which are families or individuals contributing $25 or more per month ($300 or more annually). The banquet will also present the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

 

Tables will be filled by FCA supporters and their guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested in hosting a table who have not done so in the past can call the FCA office at the phone number above to be placed on a waiting list.
