South Side Mission is celebrating 90 years of service at its Annual Banquet. The event features noted speaker and radio host Dr. Tony Evans.


Dr. Evans is one of the country’s most respected leaders in evangelical circles. As a pastor, teacher, author and speaker, he serves the body of Christ through his unique ability to communicate complex theological truths through simple, yet profound, illustrations. While addressing the practical issues of today, Dr. Evans is known as a relevant expositor. New and veteran pastors alike regard him as a pastor of pastors and a father in the faith.

The inaugural Run for Their Lives 5K fun run is benefiting the Springfield Right to Live organization.  They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and this event will support their Public Outreach and Educational Programs in the community.  

In addition to the 5K fun run, there is also a 1 mile walk for life available and everyone is invited to the fun picnic event after the race! Bring your friends and have a good time for a great cause!


Online Registration is open now through May 22nd. Adults 13 and up are $25. Kids up to 12 can run/walk for free. Register by May 9th and receive a race t-shirt.

Springdale Salute 5K Run/1 Mile Walk (Mon. May 25, 2015 7:30 am)

Join us on Memorial Day for the 1st Annual Springdale Salute 5K Run/1 Mile Walk to benefit Veteran home repair projects. The run will begin in lower Glen Oak Park and travel through Springdale Cemetery. Awards will be given out at the Picnic Party after the race.  


Fees for 5K run are:  $25.00 before March 31; $30.00 April and May and $35.00 race weekend.   $20.00 for 1 mile walk.  $5.00 discount given to Veterans. 


The event is sponsored by Illinois Valley Fuller Center for Housing; CIAN Inc., Sunrise Roofing, Peoria Rivermen, Fritch Heating & Cooling, Fortner Insurance and Illinois Blue Star Mothers Club.

The mission of Karee' Exclusive's Beauty & Talent Competitions is to help provide scholarships to teenage girls and young women who aspire to go to college, build teenage girls & young women's confidence & self-esteem, try to help prevent teenage pregnancy and other teenage peer pressure issues by giving teenage girls & young women something positive, inspiring, and motivational to do, look forward to, and be a part of.


There is a $10 admission to attend the competition.

Chicks N Chocolate is an annual fundraiser for our not-for-profit organization, The Elizabeth Ann Seton Program. We are a faith based organization that works with pregnant and parenting women.


This event consists of women, lots of chocolate, live entertainment, an all-women's sand volleyball tournament, 35 vendors and much more!


The event starts at 4:00 p.m. and vendors will be available from 4:00-7:00 p.m. There will be live music by Side Effect until 10:00 p.m.


Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. The fee to get in includes all the chocolates one cares to eat, one of thirty five raffle items, and live entertainment.

Tennis for Water was created in order to benefit Compassion Water for Life, which provides water filters for people in developing countries.

The 17th annual Pedaling for Kicks will benefit the Fellowship of Christian Farmers, based in Lexington, IL. There will be 6 routes to choose from, ranging from 10 miles to 63 miles.


The start time is 6:00-8:00 a.m. Same day registration begins at 5:30 a.m.

Like to play tennis? Want to help a wonderful cause? Come to Tennis for Water in order to benefit Compassion Water for Life, which provides water filters for people in developing countries.


There will be doubles tournaments and skills challenges, along with mini-tennis for the kids and lessons! There will also be a raffle for awesome gear. A BBQ lunch and snacks will be provided at noon.

There will be an all day car show at Knights Action Park. rain or shine. The show will be on the golf range (east end) of park.


Registration is from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Judging will take place from noon to 3:00 p.m. Awards will be at 4:00 p.m.


The show features the Saints flight Helicopter and Hot Air Balloon demo, replica Lincoln Funeral Carriage, 40 plus Ford Pinto's from the Pinto Stampeders club, replica movie/tv cars, Brandt #51 Nascar show car & more!



The entry fee is $15 to be judged. Display only is $10. Proceeds benefit the Powerlight Christian Music Fest on August 23rd at the Illinois State Fair!
