St. Ann's WATCH (We Are The Church) program has partnered with two local businesses, The Iona Group and Float, to host the fifth consecutive Shoes for Water event.

 

Shoes for Water is an annual shoe drive in Central Illinois that lasts through the month of August.  Anyone can participate by donating used shoes. This shoe drive benefits WaterStep, a Kentucky-based nonprofit, that works to provide safe drinking water to impoverished communities around the world. Donated shoes are used to fund water treatment systems offered by WaterStep.

 

ALL shoes, new or used, are accepted and can be dropped off at any of the volunteer locations found on the event website above. For more information, call or email.

During this two-day food drive, you can...

 

-VOLUNTEER at one of the collection sites. Join us on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th at one of 19 area Kroger, Hy-Vee, and Aldi locations! Volunteers will cover 2-hour shifts and serve as greeters, hosts, loaders, and goodwill ambassadors. SIGN UP TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

 

-SHOP and give at your local Kroger, Hy-Vee, or Aldi on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th between 10am and 2pm both days and bring your donated goods to the trucks in the parking lot of the store! Items to shop for:

  • Dry and Boxed Meals
  • Macaroni & Cheese
  • Hamburger Helper
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly
  • Breakfast Grains – cereal, oatmeal

Come experience firsthand the daily life of rural Peorians in the mid 19th century! The feature is "Koerner Family Cemetery Walk."

 

Activities may include hand dipping candles, blacksmithing, school lessons, woodworking, chores, pioneer cemetery tours, hayrides and livestock care.

 

This is a wonderful opportunity for scout and youth groups to learn history.

Working with just your imagination and a gigantic pile of cardboard and tape, can you build soaring skyscrapers, medieval castles, or a futuristic city?

 

At the Cardboard City Family Workshop, families will work together to build a landscape of their choice.

 

Family workshops engage children ages 4-10 with their grown-ups of any age in exploration and hands-on activities.

 

Cost is $15.00 per member pair (one grown-up and one child) and $5.00 per additional family member; $20.00 non-member pair and $10.00 per additional family member.

Community Bible Study (CBS) Peoria Evening Class invites you to study the Gospel of Matthew!

 

This is a 30-week study for men, women and children of every denomination and every level of understanding. CBS's goal is to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in our communities through caring, in-depth Bible study, available to all. CBS's format is opening in worship, core group discussion and lecture. 

 

Matthew wrote by the power of the Holy Spirit, primarily to his fellow Jews, proving through scripture that Jesus's life and ministry fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies concerning the Messiah.

 

CBS meets weekly on Thursday nights.

This is a weekly group devoted to helping people understand depression and anxiety, manage their symptoms, and pursue a full and meaningful life. The group will use education, skills, and exercises to learn more about their symptoms and how to manage them. Additionally, this group incorporates mindfulness and group discussions to help members of the group become more psychologically flexible and pursue their valued lives.

 

Groups begin meeting Monday, September 12th and meet each Monday night. A group for teens meets at 5 p.m. and a group for adults meets at 6:30 p.m.

GriefShare is a 13-week, Bible-based DVD and discussion series designed to give hope and encouragement to anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one.

 

This is a support group that will provide a safe and caring place to meet with others on this journey of grief and help you understand the heartache and questions of loss.

 

The DVDs feature clips from Christian counselors, pastors, and other people who offer practical suggestions and reassurance.

 

The series begins on Monday, September 12th and will be held at Grace Church in Morton.

Come and see an intimate vision of Christ's revealed glory through the eyes of John at Bible Study Fellowship.

 

We meet September 12th through May, on Monday nights from 6:45-8:30.

 

Our women's class meets at Woodland Baptist Church on N. Allen Road, and the men's class meets at Grace Presbyterian Church on Route 91.  Both classes have school-age programs - children K-12 are welcome and study the same passage at an age-appropriate level.
