Hey, it’s Station Manager Dave Brooks and I’ve been thinking about Good Friday.
As Jesus was on the cross from noon to three, the sky became dark, and He felt abandoned by God.
But when Jesus cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?” the Father responded right then by turning the darkness back into daylight. Jesus understood what had just been accomplished. He declared, “It is finished” and died.
In the original language, the Greek word translated “it is finished” was an accounting term. More literally, it can be translated “paid in full.”
Jesus paid the debt of sin for all of us so we would NOT be exiled from God’s presence. We can live forever in the light which overcame the darkness at 3 o’clock that afternoon. That’s the good news of Good Friday.
