I love the many ways Joe shows the love of Jesus to me. That is the goal of friendship and marriage, right? To be more like Jesus in the way we love and serve each other. But the problem arises when we expect our spouse to be our Jesus. To fix us, to meet our every need. When we expect our spouse to fill the role that only God can fill, we find ourselves disconnected from God and from each other. We can’t desire to save or be saved by our spouse’s love.
