It’s time to get to know Jessie, from Afternoons with Rick & Jessie! Christmas style
What are your favorite Christmas movies? How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original; I refuse to watch the Jim Carrey version), Mickey’s Christmas Carol, Elf, and so many Hallmark movies (but if you want just one recommendation: My Christmas Family Tree is super sweet)
Do you have any Christmas traditions that you love? KFC for Christmas! Seriously. On one side of the family, we do the more traditional turkey/ham meal. On the other side, we keep it simple and almost every meat/side is from KFC.
When is it truly Christmas for you? The day after Thanksgiving when I put on all my favorite Christmas albums and all my decorations go up!
What is your favorite part of the Christmas season? Is all of it an acceptable answer? I just like the season. I love feeling the joy in the atmosphere that comes from celebrating the birth of our Savior.
What is your favorite part of the Christmas story? I’ve never really thought about it in terms of having a “favorite part” before, but a few years ago when I visited Israel, our guides took us to the area where the shepherds would have been watching their flocks. Those skies we saw were the same skies where the angels appeared. When the guides described the heavenly host, they said to think about it as a huge party in the sky – kind of like our 4th of July. That image stuck with me; I thought it was a cool way to describe it.
