Has a friend ever asked you if you were free at a certain time or date - but you hesitated to answer because your first thought was, free to do what? Tell me more; then I’ll tell you if I’m free!
I believe God is always asking us, “Are you free?” His invitation to join Him is always there. It can be hard to give that unequivocal YES to God before knowing what exactly it is He wants us to do. But His plans for us are good, and we can trust Him!
And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:42-45
I love the mission that Jesus gave His first disciples. It wasn’t to be great and to amass more power or status. It was simply to serve others.
