Adoption Information Center of Illinois provides resources for learning about adoption and foster care and meeting children waiting to be adopted. They work with caseworkers to register the nearly 18,000 young people waiting to be adopted in Illinois. They also support keeping siblings together.

Our main goal is to feed the children a nutritious meal four days a week while proclaiming the message of Jesus Christ. Before every meal, the children join hands in a circle and pray. They often request prayers for their family members.

​Over the years, Asbury United Methodist Church watched its neighborhood change from middle income families to very low income families. Currently, our children live in the area of Springfield that suffers from the highest percent of child poverty. The Children’s Supper hour began in 1983 as a way to meet the need for an after school/summer nutritional meal program for the neighborhood children. Our mission is to provide meals and activities in a safe, nurturing Christian environment while responding to the spiritual and social needs of the children. All children are made to feel welcome and special.

The children come from the two lowest income tracts in Springfield. For children not in school and during the summer, when the school lunch programs are not available, this meal may represent the only meal they get during the day. In addition, there are few activities in the neighborhood for the children. Gangs, violence and drug dealers are more prevalent than positive role models.

Many of our children are from broken homes with parents who have serious addictions. Many of the children suffer from neglect as well as from hunger. Hugs and attention are just as important to these children as the meal. The positive attention the children receive at our site helps enhance their self-esteem. Children with a healthy self-image are less likely to fall into the trap of drug use and crime.

Since many issues stem from problems with family and personal relationships, Peoria Rescue Ministries established the Barnabas Center to fulfill the need for Biblical counseling. Clients who are mentally, emotionally and spiritually discouraged can openly share their fears, hurts and difficulties and receive discerning Biblical wisdom. Membership is held in the American Association of Christian Counselors. Marriage, family, and individual counseling are available.

Our story starts in 2003 when the Kieser family actioned their faith to share their blessings. They turned a barn on their family farm into a distribution site for local food pantries. More than 3.6 million people were impacted in 2017. Midwest Food Bank currently distributes over $11.5 million worth of food to over 1,400 non-profit organizations each month. Many kids today are unfamiliar with the outdoors. Cross Trail Outfitters (CTO) is changing that by providing an opportunity to get them outdoors and teach them about our hunting and fishing heritage, while sharing our faith. We want kids to know that life is different than what they see on TV or in video games. There’s a life out in God’s creation, and CTO is all about “Guiding the next generation to Christ through the outdoors.” We provide the mentorship, training and assets for kids to go hunting and fishing, while ensuring a wholesome and fun environment in which participants can grow in knowledge and reverence of God.

CTO is primarily for boys ages 7-20, offering a wide range of year-round outdoor activities. There are also opportunities for families and girls to participate in some CTO activities. Outings and events are open to both members and non-members, however, by becoming a member of CTO Illinois, you can help us grow across Illinois. Royal Family Kids is a national ministry creating positive, life-changing moments for innocent children who have been victims of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Their vision is to give foster children ages 6-12 a life-changing experience at camp. Their values are to treat these kids royally, keep moving forward, and make moments matter.

History of Royal Family Kids: In 1985, an assistant pastor named Wayne Tesch and his wife, Diane, saw a need to provide hope to local foster children in Costa Mesa, California. They created a week-long summer camp held in the mountains, the “cathedral of the outdoors,” in order to create moments that matter for foster children ages 6-12. After the first five years of hosting camps through their church, the Tesches realized the need was in every county in the U.S. They also realized it was possible to launch RFKC as a countrywide organization. In 2008, the organization expanded to include a school year mentoring program called “Royal Friends Club,” headed by Joanne Feldmeth, the former Executive Director for Child SHARE. In 2015 Royal Family KIDS served over 7,700 children in 209 camps in 40 states and 4 international countries.

The ultimate goal is to strengthen and support parents so they can become Safe Families for their own children.
