Maybe it’s not a disappointment. Maybe it’s an opportunity…
Are you feeling disappointed? Have you been praying about something for what feels like forever, and the end is nowhere in sight? Maybe you’ve started to wonder if God hears you or if He even cares. Maybe you’ve felt like David from the Bible.
David felt abandoned, and in Psalm 35, he cries out to God, begging Him to not be silent. David’s deliverance was delayed. God seemed to be taking a long time. David started to wonder if God heard him or if God even cared. But the truth is, God hears every prayer, and He answers according to His wisdom. He answers in His time.
Knowing that you’re not alone (even when you feel alone) can help. As we wait for answers to our prayers, we have to try to not let the absence of an immediate answer cause us to doubt, to resent God, or to be disappointed. Instead, we can try to see it as an opportunity to deepen our faith.
“The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength! They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” -Isaiah 40:28-31
You might be celebrating the goodness of God today or feeling the weight of something hard that you’re carrying. Whatever the case, you’re invited to join us on WCIC’s Prayer Center. There, you can share as little or as much as you’d like and can also pray for others. Let others in our community know that they are not alone, and be reassured YOU are not alone as well.
