I’ve listened to WCIC for as long as I can remember. I grew up in the Peoria area, and I can’t recall a time that I got in the car with my mom and the radio wasn’t tuned to WCIC. My third-grade class even took a field trip to the station, met some of the staff, and got a tour of the building. In fact, I remember standing in a studio with my class and all saying things into the mic together. Turns out that I now work in that very same studio today.
After graduating high school, I stayed in the Peoria area and attended Bradley University. While attending a job fair during the first semester of my sophomore year, I just happened to stop and talk to the people at the WCIC table. I ended up getting an internship in January 2015 working with Jill and Jeremy on the Morning Show and Kira with social media and analytics. About 10 days after my internship ended, I got a call from Jill and Jeremy offering me a part-time job to come back to the station over the summer. Well, that one summer turned into about two full years of part-time work in different roles throughout the station.
In May of 2017, I graduated from Bradley with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Communication and minors in Political Science and History. The same week that I graduated, the role of Production Director opened up at WCIC, and I joined the team full-time.
