Lyrics

Are you disappointed
Are you desperate for help
You know what it’s like to be tired
And only a shell of yourself
Well you start to believe
You don’t have what it takes
Cause it’s all you can do
Just to move much less finish the race

But don’t forget
What lies ahead

Almost home
Brother it won’t be long
Soon all your burdens will be gone
With all your strength
Sister run wild run free
Hold up your head
Keep pressing on
We are almost home

Well this road will be hard
But we win in the end
Simply because of Jesus in us
It’s not if but when
So take joy in the journey
Even when it feels long
Oh find strength in each step
Knowing heaven is cheering you on

We are almost home
Brother it won’t be long
Soon all your burdens will be gone
With all your strength
Sister run wild run free
Hold up your head
Keep pressing on
We are almost home
Almost home
Almost home

I know that the cross has brought heaven to us
But make no mistake there’s still more to come
When our flesh and our bone are no longer between
Where we are right now and where we’re meant to be
When all that’s been lost is made whole again
When these tears and this pain no longer exist
No more walking we’re running as fast as we can
Consider this our second wind

Almost home
Brother it won’t be long
Soon all your burdens will be gone
With all your strength
Sister run wild run free
Hold up your head
Keep pressing on
We are almost home
Almost home
Almost home

We are almost home
Almost home
Almost home

We are almost home

About This Song

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also." - John 14:1-3

When we walk through seasons of life that wear us down, it's so good to be reminded that there is a finish line. It won't always be this way and we are moving toward an amazing future! I have been fooled into believing in the light at the end of the tunnel, only to discover it's actually a freight train. And I've seen first hand how devastating that can be. But it does not mean that God isn't working and preparing for us an incredible destination. He will wipe every single tear from our eyes! (Revelation 21:4) I used to only think about that verse in a way that our tears will simply be gone. Forever. It was this week that God used Lisa Williams to show me more depth to that verse - "He will wipe every tear..." Think about how intimate it is to wipe the tears from our kids' eyes. The very act of wiping the tears away is so comforting and intimate. God not only will make our tears (and any source of tears and pain) disappear, He will intimately and delicately with love and compassion wipe away every single tear. Pretty amazing, right! I can't wait to get home!

I know that the cross has brought heaven to us
But make no mistake there’s still more to come
When our flesh and our bone are no longer between
Where we are right now and where we’re meant to be
When all that’s been lost has been made whole again
When these tears and this pain no longer exist
No more walking we’re running as fast as we can
Consider this our second wind
