Lyrics

(Featuring Matthew West)

Why You ever chose me
Has always been a mystery
All my life, I’ve been told I belong
At the end of a line
With all the other Not-Quites
With all the Never-Get-It-Rights
But it turns out they are the ones You were looking for
All this time

‘Cause I’m just a nobody trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me, You gave my heart a song to sing
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus

Moses had stage fright
And David brought a rock to a sword fight
You picked twelve outsiders nobody would’ve chosen
And You changed the world
Well, the moral of the story is
Everybody’s got a purpose
So when I hear that devil start talking to me, saying
“Who do you think you are?” I say

I’m just a nobody trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me, You gave my heart a song to sing
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
So let me go down, down, down in history
As another blood-bought faithful member of the family
And if they all forget my name, well, that’s fine with me
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus

So let me go down, down, down in history (Go down in history)
As another blood-bought faithful member of the family
(It’s all I ever wanna be) And if they all forget my name, well, that’s fine with me
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus, yeah

I’m just a nobody (Nobody)
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody
Who saved my soul (Oh, saved my, saved my soul)
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing (You gave me a song to sing)
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus (Nobody but You, Lord)
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus

I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus

About This Song

This is the second half of Only Jesus. Co-written by and featuring Matthew West, Nobody is a song that goes against the normal thinking of our culture today. We work so hard to draw attention to ourselves and with technology, it's become easier and easier. But what if our lives were used to reflect His love and point those around us to Him. The more it becomes less about us, the more it will become more about Him. (John 3:30) A tweet from Bob Goff says, "Let God's light shine so brightly through you that it makes people squint so hard you completely disappear." We are infinitely more valuable to God than we could ever possibly comprehend and He loves us so much. As we surrender our wills to His leadership He elevates us to places we can do more extraordinary things for Him.

"We are not the point. We are here to point to the point. John the Baptist talked about Jesus in the womb! He's got us all beat. His whole life was about pointing people back to Jesus. And there was a time when everybody got around John and everybody started asking him who he was. That's a moment that most of us can't handle. that moment where all eyes are on you. And I tell singers and worship leaders this all the time - You stand in the most dangerous place in the church. Between God and His people. And you can lead them to you or you can lead them to Him. And the example that John sets is that he wouldn't even tell the people his name. I'm a voice crying out in the wilderness. What John was saying is that I'm a nobody. You don't even need to know me, I have nothing for you but can point you to the One who does." - Mark Hall
