I was born and raised in Pekin and the oldest of five siblings in a “sports” family. The only church experience for me growing up was a brief season of mom and dad dropping us off for Sunday school at a local Methodist church in town. I like many believed in God but thought, "That’s something I’ll consider when I get older (or after I’ve sown my “wild oats”)." I married my wife Laura a few years after high school. Unfortunately, since I wasn’t done with those wild oats, we were on the brink of divorce when Jesus intervened through the change we had seen in her mother who had become a Christian.
We consider ourselves spiritual twins as we gave our hearts to Christ together publicly at a church service less than a year after we married.
As time went on, we felt the call to ministry, attending bible college in Texas and working as both a Youth and Associate Pastor for years.
Twenty-six years ago, we felt the tug to come home. Along the way, we were privileged to raise three incredible sons who now are awesome husbands and dads!
Laura and I have 6 grand-kids that we love so much, and serve at Connect, our church in Washington, where I help with sound and the occasional ushering. My full time “gig” is as a sales consultant at Scherer Lincoln Volvo in Peoria.
I consider it a privilege to be a part of the ministry of WCIC for over 23 years and can’t get over the fact that’s it’s been that long.
