When Life is Hard

We have so much to be thankful for. Even in the harder seasons of our lives.

And sometimes life is just plain hard.

There were many times in my life when I couldn’t catch a break, and I had a hard time finding hope. I thought I would never get ahead and God would never come through for me. I spent the majority of my days just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

At the time, I had even told my girlfriend, Tara, I understand if you don’t want to stay with me. I have no future, so I get it if you want to marry someone else. When I look back at my life as a young adult, coming out of an abusive childhood, it was true. The odds were stacked against me, and all I knew was loss and disappointment. (You can hear my whole story HERE.)

I’m so thankful God always sent someone to hold out hope for me when I couldn’t see it.

In those years, Tara held out hope for me. Fortunately, she didn’t fall for any of my doom and gloom predictions. 🙂 She reminded me that God was working in my life and had a plan for my future. (And I’m so glad that she is in it!)

For many of you, 2020 has been that kind of year. The kind of year where it seems around every turn there is something new to worry about. And sometimes it can become easy to think that God has somehow forgotten about you.

Can I hold out hope for you, my friend?

If you’re battling discouragement, can I remind you that God is still working and that your life does have meaning? God is still with you, and He is still for you. Even if everything around you is falling apart, you can still trust Him. He has never left you. Nor will He ever. The Bible says His love for you in unfailing. You can count on it!

Joe and Tara Buchanan have been married for 23 years and have four children. They have a passion for building strong marriages, and they share more of their story on their blog, Behind Our Smiles.

That is why I love what we do here at WCIC. I thank God for every single story of people who were almost out of hope until they turned on WCIC. God uses just the right song, just the right encouraging word, at just the right time to plant a seed of hope. It’s quite supernatural! And I’m living proof that even the tiniest bit of hope can grow into something amazing. God is so good!

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. -Romans 15:13

If WCIC has been a source of hope for you, share your story HERE.

If you’re going through a hard time and need prayer, it would be an honor to pray with you! Get connected to the Prayer Center HERE.
