3 Missionaries held in Jail in Philippines. Please Pray & Share!

Sally

Good day. Africa University graduate, Tawanda Chandiwana (a Zimbabwean who holds a B.Sc. in Sociology and a master's degree in Public Policy and Governance from AU) is being detained in the Philippines. Tawanda has been in jail for six weeks. He and two other UM missionaries, Miracle Nkhata of Malawi and Adam Shaw of the United States, are being prevented from leaving the Philippines. Yesterday, the Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church called on the government of the Philippines to release Tawanda and give all three UM missionaries approval to leave the country. The COB and the General Board of Global Ministries have launched a worldwide campaign (#LetThemLeave) to bring attention to the plight of these young people. To learn more, visit: https://bit.ly/2KqJips Here's how you can help: Please pray for Tawanda's release as well as the safety and departure of these three missionaries from the Philippines. Add your name to the petition to the government of the Philippines here: https://bit.ly/2IB7Qus Share this appeal within your networks and urge friends to sign the online petition and pray every day at noon, wherever they are, until Tawanda, Miracle and Adam are allowed to leave the Philippines. We will keep you posted of any developments. Tawanda Chandiwana was nurtured at Ishe Anesu, an after school ministry located at Hilltop UMC in the Zimbabwe East Conference, (where Mrs. Maria Humbane, a longtime UM missionary in Zimbabwe, served until retirement). Tawanda's education at Africa University was supported by the Holston Conference of The United Methodist Church as well as through direct scholarship gifts given by a California couple.
