Here’s what to look for in a church:
When visiting for the first time, consider these qualities to help you find a healthy, welcoming place to grow:
Biblical teaching that points to Jesus. Look for preaching and teaching that faithfully explain the Bible and help you live it out.
Leaders you can trust. Healthy churches have leaders who meet biblical qualifications and serve with humility and transparency.
A spirit of worship. Whether the style is traditional or modern, worship should draw you closer to God.
A sense of community. You should feel welcomed and able to build real relationships—through small groups, service opportunities, or simply sharing life together.
A heart for mission. Strong churches don’t just gather on Sundays—they actively love and serve their communities.
A place where you can grow and serve. Consider if the church offers opportunities that fit your stage of life and allow you to use your gifts.
No church is perfect, but a good church will point you to Jesus, help you grow in faith, and welcome you into the family.
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” – Matthew 18:20
You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just start with one Sunday.
