This week, you’ll start hearing “Still” by Crowder and Zach Williams
Story Behind the Song
“Hey, what’s up, it’s Crowder, and I’m talking about, I’m here to talk about my new song, Still, that we’re releasing to radio as a single. And here’s what, I hadn’t told this story before, but here’s what happened on this song, all right? So I go in to a writing session with some buddies, and I say, hey, I wanna write a song that’s based around the very well-known verse, Psalm 46, 10, which says, be still, and know that I am God. I mean, we’ve heard this, and so I go in, I think we’re gonna write some, a very contemplative type piece about being at rest, being quiet, getting away from the noise and the ruckus, and allowing God to speak, and just to be with him. And that’s not what happened. And you know I love a good turn of phrase, so here, I didn’t see it coming. The twist was on me. So we’re sitting there, and all these lyrics keep coming out, and we’re like, man, we keep saying things about God’s continued activity, that he hasn’t given up on us, that he keeps working on us, that things, he’s still, and I was like, oh my goodness, we’re sort of doing it, we’re sort of doing it, but not what I saw coming. And I love it, I couldn’t be happier about it, that God does not give up on us, that he’s still working. Right now, he’s active, present, and he’s making me more and more like him every day, and that’s what we need, we need that, we need that so badly. So anyway, that’s my song, Still. Did not go how I planned, but I love how it came out. And like I said, love a good twist, and it was on me. All right, enjoy..” -Crowder

Lyrics to “Still”
Lyrics
Still got a couple problems, never seem to solve ’em
I keep thinking I’m letting you down still
Ain’t making you proud still, why am I trying?
Spinnin’ my wheels up a hundred-mile hill
Sliding back down ’til I’m stuck here in a standstill
But oh, that’s when I remember
He’s working on me still
Changing me piece by piece still
Making me better, gonna do His thing
Don’t care how long it takes ’til
All I know is
I don’t care if it’s a little cliche to say
That I’m a sinner saved by grace
‘Cause I need more every day
That’s why
He’s working on me (still)
You’re keeping such a long list of all the times you don’t win
Tryna get it right, ain’t gettin’ it right still
Always hatin’ how that feels, but let me tell ya
Every rebel in the church got a story like yours
‘Til they read about grace in a verse
And a couple red words come alive
And you realize
He’s working on me still
Changing me piece by piece still
Making me better, gonna do His thing
Don’t care how long it takes ’til
All I know is
I don’t care if it’s a little cliche to say
That I’m a sinner saved by grace
‘Cause I need more every day
That’s why (that’s why)
He’s working on me still
He’s working on me
When I’m broken
When I’m hurting
My God’s still workin’
When I’m reachin’
When I’m searchin’
My God’s still workin’
When I’m broken, hurtin’, when I’m still searchin’
My God’s still workin’
When I’m stranded, reachin’, I am believing
My God is- (oh)
He’s working on me still
Changing me piece by piece still
Making me better, gonna do His thing
Don’t care how long it takes ’til
All I know is
I don’t care if it’s a little cliche to say
That I’m a sinner saved by grace
‘Cause I need more every day
That’s why (oh)
He’s working on me still
He’s working on me still
