April 30 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The Capital Area Concert Band (The CACB) celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2024 of “sharing the joy of live music” with the metro-Springfield community.
The public is invited to a free, one-hour concert on April 30, 2024 at The Trutter Center on the Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) campus in Springfield at 7:00 pm. The CACB will perform a playlist of well-known standards and newer compositions for a lively concert that will have the audience toe-tapping along with the musicians.
Formed in 1974 by Tom Ford, a Lanphier High School band instructor, the purpose of the CACB was to create an outlet for former high school band members to keep their musical skills fresh while sharing the joy of live music with the Springfield community. Currently, fifty volunteer musicians, ranging in age from 20-80, perform at malls, parks, and community festivals as well as at nursing homes, schools, churches, and senior centers. Some of the original band members from 1974 continue to play with the band in 2024.
