Obituary: Jesus of Nazareth
Jerusalem — Jesus of Nazareth, a teacher and healer widely known for his message of love, forgiveness, and the coming of God’s kingdom, died on Friday at Golgotha. He was approximately 33 years old. He was born to Joseph (son of Heli) and Mary (daughter of Joachim) in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth.
Jesus gained a following throughout Judea and Galilee, preaching to crowds, performing miracles, and challenging religious authorities. He was arrested in Jerusalem, tried by the Sanhedrin, and sentenced to death by crucifixion under Roman Governor Pontius Pilate.
Jesus is survived by his mother, Mary; his brothers and sisters; and a devoted group of followers who believed him to be the Messiah.
His teachings and work have left a lasting impact on many.
His body was placed in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea.
