September 28 @ 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
This is the 9th annual Peoria Refugee Walk in support of displaced people world wide. With recent conflicts, the number of displaced people has swelled to almost 120 million. As part of the walk, you will receive information about a specific refugee somewhere in the world, and will be invited to walk in their steps, understand the challenges and heartaches they face, and their need for prayer and practical help. The majority of displaced people are women and children and the average stay in a refugee camp is 17 years!
This is not a political event, but an expression of Christian love and concern. Proceeds from the walk go to refugee kits for people in camps around the world. They include Bibles and other practical care items. Walkers can choose from 5 miles, down to 1 mile, or even just “one step”.
