To help commemorate the 100th year of his birth, St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin, IL will honor and remember Rev. Dr. C.T. Vivian by performing “Portraits of Peace”, a suite for pipe organ and soloist.
The concert will feature additional works that echo the themes of non-violent civil activism. In addition, the original funeral programs of Rev. Dr. C.T. Vivian’s service will be available to the congregation at this concert. Featured performers are Linda Andrews, organist, and Dr. Alphonso Cooper, Jr- Rev. Dr. C.T. Vivian Diversity Teaching Scholar in Vocal Performance, both of Western IL University and for whom the piece was commissioned. St. Paul’s Gayle Cooper will serve as pianist. We will also collaborate with The George Washington Carver Community Center of Peoria and The Dirksen Congressional Center.
