Lyrics

Everybody’s dressed in black
The preacher’s saying life goes too fast
The memories have turned to tears
Thinking back on all the years

I know that you’re in a better place
But I’m still here missing you today

It isn’t easy to say goodbye
But I know it’s only for a little while
Run up ahead and I will catch up
‘Cause I’m gonna see you when tomorrow comes
On the other side
On the other side

I bet you feel you’re finally home
Running down those streets of gold
The kind of peace you can’t explain
Looking into Jesus’ face

I know that you’re in a better place
I know I’ll be joining you someday

It isn’t easy to say goodbye
But I know it’s only for a little while
Run up ahead and I will catch up
‘Cause I’m gonna see you when tomorrow comes
On the other side

Where there are no more goodbyes
No more pain, no more tears left to cry
We will join with the angels singing their song
Praising our savior, all the day long

It isn’t easy to say goodbye
But I know it’s only for a little while
Run up ahead and I will catch up
‘Cause I’m gonna see you when tomorrow comes
On the other side
On the other side
On the other side
On the other side

About This Song

a few notes from Joe B., Music Director

The pain of losing someone you love, even years later, never really goes away. At any instance, a smell or a color or a song or a date on the calendar can bring into focus that first raw moment when everything changed. If there’s any secret to grieving, it’s that there can be room for sorrow and joy, sadness and joy, to exist in the same space at the same time. I’ve learned grief is not a lack of faith or a sign of weakness, it’s just the price of love.” - Heather Shelley.

This song is going to hit home for so many. It’s something we all have dealt with, are dealing with or someday will deal with. I see so many emails about missing loved ones who have already gone home. I love the camera angle that Colton chose to use during the second verse. I believe this song will help bring peace (and even a little joy) to those who are walking through the different stages of the grieving process. I also believe this song is so timely with the darkness falling over our country and world right now. It’s so painful to lose a loved one. But, in the midst of that pain and grieving process we can still have hope. Because there is the other side.
