Lyrics

What will it be like when my pain is gone
And all the worries of this world just fade away?
What will it be like when You call my name
And that moment when I see You face to face?

I’m waiting my whole life to hear You say
Well done, well done
My good and faithful one
Welcome to the place where you belong
Well done, well done
My beloved child
You have run the race and now you’re home
Welcome to the place where you belong

What will it be like when tears are washed away
And every broken thing will finally be made whole?
What will it be like when I come into Your glory
Standing in the presence of a love so beautiful?

I’m waiting my whole life for that day
I will live my life to hear You say

Well done, well done
My good and faithful one
Welcome to the place where you belong
Well done, well done
My beloved child
You have run the race and now you’re home
Welcome to the place where you belong

What will it be like when I hear that sound?
All of heaven’s angels crying out:
Singing holy, holy, holy are You, Lord
Singing holy, holy, holy are You, Lord
Singing holy, holy, holy are You, Lord
Waiting my whole life for that day
Until then I’ll live to hear You say

Well done, well done
My good and faithful one
Welcome to the place where you belong
Well done, well done
My beloved child
You have run the race and now you’re home
Welcome to the place where you belong

Well done

About This Song

a few notes from Joe B., Music Director

I really love this song because it's a glimpse into what it will be like to finish strong. It's easy to lose track of the eternal when the temporal is pulling so hard from so many different directions. I also believe this song will be an encouragement to those who have lost loved ones. Joshua Havens (Lead singer) was inspired by something he heard about Billy Graham on the day Billy died - "Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God."

Interesting side note... the actual quote originally came from D.L. Moody: "Some day you will read in the papers that D. L. Moody, of East Northfield, is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it! At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now. I shall have gone up higher, that is all; out of this old clay tenement into a house that is immortal—a body that death cannot touch; that sin cannot taint; a body fashioned like unto His glorious body."

"Someday we're all going to leave this world. We're going to leave behind the pain, the heartache, all the struggles of this world. It's all going to be washed a way. And we're going to go before Jesus. And we're going to find ourselves in a place where we belong. More than we've ever belonged before. Where we're more at home than we have ever felt before. Where we're going to experience a love unlike we've ever known before. We're going to go before Jesus and hear the words, 'Well Done!'" - Joshua Havens (Lead singer The Afters)
