April 16 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The Capital Area Concert Band (The CACB) celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2024 of “sharing the joy of live music” with the metro-Springfield community.
The public is invited to a free, one-hour concert on April 16, 2024 at First United Methodist Church at 2941 S. Koke Mill Road in Springfield, Illinois at 7:00 pm. The CACB will perform well-known standards and newer compositions for a lively concert that will have the audience toe-tapping along with the musicians.
So, how do former high school band members continue to use their musical talents and have the chance to perform the music they love? Sensing a need for an outlet for these musicians, Lanphier High School band instructor Tom Ford formed the Capital Area Concert Band in 1974. The CACB allows these dedicated musicians to share their love of performing by offering free concerts to the public. While some of the fifty musicians are professional musicians and perform with other bands, most band members are volunteers who play for the joy of performing and bringing joy to others through music.
